This international partnership between the University of Maryland Carey School of Law and National University of Ireland, Galway School of Law co-organized and convened an academic workshop, public lecture series, and summer school
in Galway June 6-11, 2022 on the topic of comparative constitutional law and the crisis of constitutional democracy.

The workshop brought together 12-15 European, U.K. and U.S. scholars to present current work on comparative jurisprudence involving antidiscrimination law and religion. The lecture series involved three public lectures by each of the international partners on constitutional democracy in crisis, the backlash against international law and institutions, and comparative free speech in U.S. and European public law. The summer school comprised a series of classes and discussions over two days presented by two prominent comparative constitutional law scholars.
